Review of Book Weight Watchers New Complete Cookbook | | great book, good instructions and good ideas how sabstitute stuff to maintain low-calory diet, Diet but TASTY | | |
Review of Book Weight Watchers New Complete Cookbook | | Ive seen a lot of the Weight Watchers cookbooks, and this is the most all-purpose general-appeal one Ive seen. Id even go as far as to say this is the Joy of Cooking for the Weight Watchers crowd.
Many of these recipes have become standards in our house, and they never taste like diet food at all. This is just a common sense good-health cookbook that happens to provide points values for people following the Weight Watchers program. There is a huge variety of recipes, nothing is repeated, and it would take a very long time and much effort to ever get sick of this cookbook.
I will repeat one common complaint of reviewers--the book doesnt state what the serving size is, just how many servings there are. This means you have to divide your whole soup (or whatever) out into 6 portions, then measure, to get the portion size. Ive made notes to myself about any of the recipes that Ive tried, but I wish the authors had just done that from the beginning.
I adore the spiral format of this cookbook. I hate having to destroy the spine of a book to make it lay flat for my uses. The pages are also high-gloss, which helps if anything accidentally gets spilled on them.

Review of Book Weight Watchers New Complete Cookbook | | As child,I so hated being told You are eating a healthy meal tonight. Into my mind would pop memories and awful tasting or bland foods. Thankfully I now only have those memories. Healthy and tasty now go together so well. I have yet to make any of the recipes in the book, I only recieved 1 day ago, but having flipped through, which is why I give it 3 stars. I think my daughter will even happily eat what I put on her plate. I do not follow the Weight Watchers plan, I am only looking for different ways to prepare the the things I love.

Review of Book Weight Watchers New Complete Cookbook | | This book is the one I use over and over again, Ive made so many recipes from it. These recipes do not taste like diet food. Although they are low in fat, calories, and food points, they really taste good too. Some favorites I make regularly from this book are the Parmesan-Turkey Meatloaf, Shrimp Creole, Tuna-Noodle Casserole, Chicken Avgolemono Soup, Indian Carrot Soup, Hummus, and our absolute favorite - the Chicken Quesadillas with Corn-Tomato Salad. I brought the Rolled Orange Sponge Cake to a family gathering and everyone devoured it - no one would have guessed it only had 2 grams of fat per serving.
I highly recommend this book for anyone looking for a great all-around sourcebook for all kinds of healthy low-fat recipes that taste great and fit into a Weight Watchers plan or even anyone who is just looking for good, nutritious meals. The book is well laid out and has an excellent variety of reliable recipes. Its easy to read and browse through, has an adequate amount of photos, and contains all the nutrition information and points for each recipe.

Review of Book Weight Watchers New Complete Cookbook | | This new Weight Watchers cookbook utilizes Points program, by offering creative and delicious recipes. The majority of the recipes are achievable by even an inexperienced cook. In addition, the introduction of this book contains program basic information and food lists to assist in meal planning.

Review of Book Weight Watchers New Complete Cookbook | | This book is a goldmine of great recipies. The vegetable chili, moo shu chicken, chicken enchiladas with corn salad, and raspberry brownies were all so delicious we couldnt believe they were guilt free to eat. I would give up Joy of Cooking and New Basics before I gave up this book because there is such a range of recipies and they range from good to fantastic. The only wishes I have were sample menus or more suggestions on how to pair things - Id like to make the Turkey Fruit Pilaf but am puzzled as to what vegetable to put it with - and occasionally the book suggests using WAY too many onions as in the Beef Chili. But dont let that deter you from getting this five star cooking book particularly if you are trying to eat healthier. The only question I have is, as this is my first Weight Watchers cookbook and its new and updated and all - are the other Weight Watchers cookbooks this good

Review of Book Weight Watchers New Complete Cookbook | | This book is one of the greatest cook books. First, it offers a comprehensive overview of the Weight Watchers philosophy outlining the POINTS system and the basics of nutrition. After the intro, you get a whole lot of good recipes ranging from those suitable for a single person to eating for a while family. It is organized by meat type (no fears, it does have a vegetarian section) and has a handy index of recipes. Each recipe is broken down to show you how many points are contained in the servings. For all recipes, each takes up at most one page, so you dont have to flip through pages mid-cooking. The book is spiral bound (comb bound for the cheaper version), which makes it very easy to use in the kitchen.
One of the nice things about this book is that it stresses the importance of using herbs and spices in your food, making the food pretty interesting and appetizing. Most recipes are concocted from easily found items that are not usually expensive, thus allowing you to lose weight (or just watch it) while saving money and becoming healthier.
Highly recommended for the good amount of recipes, ease of use, and financial consideration for the chef.

Review of Book Weight Watchers New Complete Cookbook | | This cookbook is good, but you can tell that it is a littl more dated than the other Weight Watcher Cookbooks. There are some easy to follow recipes and some are REALLY good. I think this book was printed when the POINTS system was just being developed. If you have one of the more recent WW cookbooks, then you can see more of the substitution methods. However, to find some new and tasty recipes, this book is good to have on the shelf.

Review of Book Weight Watchers New Complete Cookbook | | thought that the Weight Watchers website had incredible recipes until I got this cookbook. I have marked over 1/2 of the recipes as something I would like to try. In the past 3 weeks since I received this cookbook, Ive tried over 10 recipes and have loved them all. The best thing is that the cookbook has real food that the whole family can enjoy. Bonus - the recipes are easy to prepare. I recommend this book for anybody who either wants to lose weight or eat more healthy.

Review of Book Weight Watchers New Complete Cookbook | | The WEIGHT WATCHERS NEW COMPLETE COOKBOOK (Spiral Edition 1998) is the first diet cookbook that I ever felt compelled to buy. I must say that, although I am not a Weight Watchers member, they sure do put out a very good cookbook. one that is easy to follow and even fun to use. I love the spiral binder design and tab sections, as it makes it really easy to thumb through to find the kind of recipe youre looking for. Whether it be appetizers, soups, salads, entrees or desserts, you are sure to find a wide variety of healthy alternatives. Not only that, but they actually taste good, and are even fun to make. What other diet book can you say that about I credit this cookbook for two major things. helping to me to stem my earlier weight gain in 2002, and helping me to lose 40 pounds in 2003. Of course, exercise also helped a great deal. I definitely recommend this cookbook to anybody who wants to follow a healthier lifestyle (I wont even call it a diet), but who---like me---doesnt see the sense in spending USD70+ per week on half-hour group support meetings. As far as Im concerned, the foods the thing, and this cookbook will help you make better choices without feeling deprived.

Review of Book Weight Watchers New Complete Cookbook | | The recipes are really great - Ive used several at dinner parties and no one even knew they were low fat, low calories. You do have to remember that the points given are for the 123 Success points, not Winning Points - I didnt realize this for awhile so was not counting points correctly when I used some recipes. Other wise there are a wide range of recipes and most are really great.

Review of Book Weight Watchers New Complete Cookbook | | I have been a Weight Watchers member for a long time (over 2 years) and I have succeded in losing over 115 pounds on the diet. I did that by making the recipes from the weight watchers cookbooks. They have hundreds of recipes that are good for you, low fat, and meals that the whole family will love...even if they do not need to lose weight. I especially love this book because it also has mouth watering pictures. My sister just bought the cookbook because she recently joined weight watchers and she made 2 recipes in 2 days and her whole family loved the meals. This is a must buy cookbook for any avid cooker.

Review of Book Weight Watchers New Complete Cookbook | | Easy to use, great recipes. A counter statement to those that have a problem with the serving notation. Each recipe clearly states how many servings it yields. If it says 4, divide it by 4. What difference does it make if its one cup or 12 oz. or whatever. Who remembers what the serving weight or measure was These recipes are easy to make, very delicious, creative, diverse. Lighten up already.

Review of Book Weight Watchers New Complete Cookbook | | read the reviews and heard the complaints about the portion calculations. Not a problem. Just divide what you make by serving number visually. This book is terrific. Nothing to complain about only pure enjoyment in eating the foods. Gourmet quality recipes that are fun to make...of course one has to enjoy cooking. GREAT BOOK.

Review of Book Weight Watchers New Complete Cookbook | | Weight watcher or no weight watcher, I love this marvellous cookbook simply for the absolutely, positively scrumptous recipes. Many are unique, simple and easy, yet your family or guests will think you spent hours upon hours in the kitchen. What attracted me to the book was the simple fact our family likes to eat healthy, low fat meals - not to lose weight but to prevent weight gain, and to maintain optimum health while still getting our required daily nutrition. This fantastic book fit the bill and my entire family enjoys the recipes and most are are a cinch to prepare. The thorough nutritional breakdown was a real plus and not always found in other cookbooks.

Review of Book Weight Watchers New Complete Cookbook | | I have another cookbook, one of those basic Betty Crocker cookbooks full of recipes like making high fat sauces, cooking big hunks of meat, which I bought thinking oh yeah that has everything but never used it. Whereas this Weight Watchers cookbook that I just got for my birthday in May, I have used many times. This cookbook has a lot of basics like descriptions of difference spices and techniques to cook with less fat and more flavor. It also has a huge range of recipes, all with the POINTS breakdown. A lot of the recipes are classical updates using less fat, but there is a section of different ethnic foods that is fantastic. This is a great cookbook for anyone who likes traditional food and is trying to eat more healthy with less fat and more fiber. The hardcover edition makes it easy to open up and leave out on the counter while you are cooking.

Review of Book Weight Watchers New Complete Cookbook | | This cookbook is great. Once your kitchen is stocked with a few basics, the recipes are a snap to make. The points for each recipe are listed, making it easy to follow along with the weight watchers program. Ive recommended this book to everyone.

Review of Book Weight Watchers New Complete Cookbook | | This book has many recipes that sound delicious. however, many of the ingredients are not things that you would normally have around the house. It is very easy to count points with these recipes, but you might want to consider the 250 Family Recipes or 500 Irresistable Recipes books instead.

Review of Book Weight Watchers New Complete Cookbook | | I love the recipes in the Weight Watchers magazine, so I thought I would love the cookbook. Wrong. There are very few pictures that show the final product--pictures often convince me to try the recipe. In fact, the whole book is bland, bland, bland. The recipes are not the type recipes I would make on a daily basis--many I would not even want to try. Come on Weight Watchers, I know you can do much better than this.
| | |
Review of Book Weight Watchers New Complete Cookbook | | All recipes that I have tried out of this book are great. These are recipes that are low fat, and they do not taste low fat. Recipes are flavourful, easy to prepare, and for the most part have ingredients that are common to most kitchens. I have actually made of these for people not on diets and was asked for the recipe. I would highly recommend this anyone that wants a decent recipe book. The book does contain a small amount of info regarding their program.

Review of Book Weight Watchers New Complete Cookbook | | This is another great cookbook from Weight Watchers. One measure of its success is that non-dieting friends for whom Ive prepared some of the dishes always ask me for the recipes. The Roast Pork Puertoricano (pork tenderloin marinated in orange, garlic, cumin, and jalepeno then roasted to perfection) and Dolmades (vegetarian, but easily convertable to carnivore) alone are worth the of admission. As with other WW cookbooks, the lack of portion size is inconvenient. But the pros far overshadow the cons. tasty, easy, and fast recipes the whole family will enjoy. WW 1-2-3 Points and nutritional information. good mix of vegetarian and nonvegetarian recipes. ingredients call for realistic and easily purchased food. complete instructions so novice cooks arent scared off. The recipes in this book take some of the sting out of watching ones weight. For that, its a bargain at twice the .

Review of Book Weight Watchers New Complete Cookbook | | I found this cook book to require to much work and too many ingredients that I didnt have to make the recepies. On top of that, the simple ones didnt really seem to be that inventive. For all of the hype this book got in my Weight Watchers meeting, it was really disappointing. Another things, which others have mentioned, is that it doesnt give the serving size. Yes, on some of the dishes it is easy to divide the dish into the number of servings it says it makes, but some of the others are not so easy. If they can figure out the points my serving that why cant they list the serving size. This is especially important if you dont have the normal 4 or five people which the recepie makes food for, to dish out one serving is very difficult.

Review of Book Weight Watchers New Complete Cookbook | | have a collection of Weight Watcher cookbooks. One, out of print, has some of the best tasting recipes for international favorites. But the older WW books dont have the point system used by the current program. (The older system used servings of food groups, the new one uses points--low calorie foods like vegetables accumulate less points than high calorie fat-laden ones. You can eat anything, up to your point total. But if you blow it all on bags of Mandamp.Ms you will, of course be hungry.) So having recipes that use the point system is very handy to follow a Weight Watcher program. Plus, when you reach your goal, you have to try to stay within 2 lbs of the ideal weight. So, this book is handy to go back on the program if you need to. This book has more good international favorites such as stuffed grapeleaves (Dolmades) and some American favorites like Tuna Noodle cassarole, which I love but which normally is too rich for me to enjoy. You can make these recipes for the whole family because they taste good --just make plenty for the skinny big eaters to be satisfied. As always, Weight Watcher recipes are great-tasting. I actually prefer their versions of many things to the higher-calorie and fat original versions. You never are left banging on your plate yelling Hello, Mr. Taste Hello

Review of Book Weight Watchers New Complete Cookbook | | just absolutley love this cookbook, the recipes are very easy to follow, and dont require alot of ingredients. All of the recipes in this book sound wonderful I just wish I had time to try everything, I have allready made several recipes from this and have recieved rave reviews from my family . THEY DIDNT EVEN REALIZE THEY WERE EATING A WEIGHT WATCHER MEAL...So for all of you WW out there this book is a great investment....

Review of Book Weight Watchers New Complete Cookbook | | Ive only had this cookbook for two weeks, but it has already totally re-shaped the way I cook. I dont have time to go to meetings and dont have the money to join Weight Watchers, but I DO count my points. Before this cookbook came along, I was hard-pressed to stay under 30 points per day, and my food was sooooo boring. I can easily stay under 22 points per day with this cookbook, and theres sooo much variety. I just sit down on Saturday and plan out my next weeks menus, then pick everything up at the grocery store on Sunday morning. For a busy person like me, that works best, but if youre not quite as busy, you can probably plan your meals on a day-to-day basis. Whats even better is that my fiance likes the meals, too...and hes not even trying to lose weight. About 3 1/2 pounds have come off in less than two weeks and my favorite pair of pants is so loose that I was stepping on my own pantlegs the other day. Great cookbook for those wanting to lose weight. Only one word of warning. If you dont like to cook, or if youre wanting simple recipes, this is not the cookbook for you. I personally think the recipes are relatively simple, but I love to cook and have a ton of kitchen tools to make the dicing, slicing, chopping, and mincing a lot easier. I can see how someone whos not familiar with a kitchen would just throw this book on the pile with their other unused cookbooks. theres a lot of kitchen and food prep work in the recipes Ive tried so far, so kitchen-phobes should stay away.

Review of Book Weight Watchers New Complete Cookbook | | As a Weight Watcher myself, I was particularly interested in this cookbook. Indeed, it does have Weight Watchers unique POINTS values for each entry. And there are dozens of great ideas to choose from. Unfortunately, there are three shortcomings. First, as another review here pointed out, while the cookbook identifies number of servings, it fails to provide the size of a serving. If Im cutting-up a baked good, thats one thing. But for a whole pot-full of soup, it means measuring out the whole batch to determine the size of a serving -- very tedious. Secondly, the recipes are composed of less-common ingredient choices, most of which are based on partial portions. A half-can of this, a sprig of that, when its unlikely youd use the rest of the can or bunch in something else. This leads to a great deal of ingredient waste. Why not stick to common items that could be leveraged better in routine, daily cooking, or in other recipes And finally, theres still too much fat in many of these recipes. Some would be better off with zero added fat, while others dont need anywhere near the amount they suggest to turn-out perfectly well. Why add needless additional calories, raising the POINTS value Why add two tablespoons of margarine when one teaspoon (or none at all) is adequate This seems odd. But as a basis to stimulate ideas, this cookbook does work -- more or less.

Reviews | | I found the recipes easy to follow. They make use of herbs and spices that add flavor and interest to the meals. However, one point I would like to bring up is the lack of serving sizes in the recipes. For instance the Beef Barley Soup states that it makes 4 servings and each serving counts for four points. it fails to mention the size of the serving. I had to measure out the entire pot of soup to find how many cups I had and then divide it by four. This is time consuming. I have seen throughout the entire book that there are no serving sizes for most of the recipes. Unlike your other cookbook Simple Goodness and your Weight Watchers Magazine.
