NFL Drug Test Leaks Hurt Players Image, Lawyer Says (Update2)

The tackles tested positive for bumetanide, a banned substance that is an ingredient in StarCaps, an over-the-counter weight-loss aide, according to court papers. The Vikings players admitted taking the supplement the night before a summer camp weigh-in so they could make weight targets tied to bonuses.

Ginsberg argued today the NFL knew as early as 2006 that the StarCaps supplement contained bumetanide and didn and rsquo;t ban players from using the weight-loss aide. The league and ldquo;arbitrarily and capriciously and rdquo; changed that policy in 2008, the lawyer said.

2010-03-09 Researchers take aim at digestive disorder - CTV News

Catherine Panejko, 20, was diagnosed with celiac a year ago, and even a single drop of a wheat product can trigger fatigue, bloating, weight loss and anemia.

The clinical trial also demonstrated that the drug could also help repair already damaged intestines, since the pills essentially fortify the patients tissue.

To test the drug, research patients took Larazati pills and then ingested foods containing gluten.

Instead, they say the pills could help patients in their everyday lives, and allow them to eat at restaurants and ingest gluten without fear of falling ill.

2010-03-04 Women bearing the weight - Campus Talk

Its come to my attention lately that weight loss commercials are directed only toward women. Well not quite, Ive seen one commercial geared toward men, but women were still involved in the commercial.

On the other hand, maybe there are more commercials on this topic geared toward women, because some women feel uncomfortable in the gym due to the typical high-population of men there. Most of the commercials, however, are not encouraging women to go to the gym. Instead, theyre telling women to "lose that belly fat" by ordering low-calorie and low-fat meals to their homes or by taking pills.

2010-02-28 Man promising effortless weight loss sentenced to 20 years in prison

In attempting to keep Marra from sentencing Sarcona to the maximum 33 years, his attorney argued that the pills werent dangerous and some studies even indicated they might promote weight-loss. Also, she said, Sarcona didnt steal anyones life savings.

Prosecutors countered that Sarconas schemes were aimed at duping consumers. In his latest venture, The Lipoban Clinic, his ads featured a Mexican doctor who wasnt licensed in the United States. He lured people into believing they would be part of a clinical study. He falsely said the product had been proven to spur weight loss without diet or exercise.
