Review of Book The Everyday Low-Carb | | Ok, so I thought I was really onto something here, slow cooker and low carb. What more could a busy mom of two ask for Well, how about a good cook book At first glance it seems like it will hit the spot, but every recipe was either too salty (what do you expect when most recipes call for beeth broth or chicken stock plus salt) or came out looking like off white sludge Anyway, me and my family did not like one single recipe in here. I am more than a little disappointed. And yes, I did follow the recipes exactly and did not substitue.

Review of Book The Everyday Low-Carb | | I recently adopted a low-carb eating lifestyle and am also very dependent on my Slow-cooker. Unfortunately, the recipes in this book are mediocre at best. Many of the recipes are salty and rely on salty ingredients (i.e. soup mixes, bouillon cubes). Other recipes Ive tried are too watery and may have been poorly adapted from regular recipes. Finally, there is not enough nutritional information in these recipes. Id like to see not only Net carbs, but total carbs, fiber, salt, fat, etc. This one is being sold at my next garage sale.

Review of Book The Everyday Low-Carb | | I have been using this cookbook for about 5 months, it was given to me as a gift. I have been eating low-carb for over 2 years and this book is a joy to use. Regarding taboo ingredients, they are used in limited quantities and they make the food taste good. I like the fact that a dietician and a chef worked together to produce this book. Almost all of the recipes have 15 net carbs or less and the servings are VERY generous. There are a few (maybe 3 or 4) recipes that have more than 15 net carbs per servings, but if I am missing classic lasagna, Crepsagna fits the bill and I simply watch my carb intake for the other meals of the day.
The most recent review posted for this book from NYC is simply an advertisement for a low fat meal website, check out that reviewers other reviews and youll see what I mean. Let amazon know that that review is inappropriate.
This book is reasonably d, especially on amazon and it is full of creative and tasty recipes. I highly recommend this book to low carbers and non-low carbers alike.

Review of Book The Everyday Low-Carb | | I have been impressed with this cookbook, I use it 2-3 times each week with wonderful results. These recipes are truly low carb unlike the majority of the recipes in the Better Homes and Garden Low Carb Slow Cooker Cookbook. If you have a busy lifestyle (and who doesnt these days.) and are into low carb living, you wont regret purchasing this cookbook.

Review of Book The Everyday Low-Carb | | This is my new favorite cookbook. I bought this shortly after I got a great deal on a new crock pot and Ive tried several recipes from this cookbook with much success (and Im a picky eater). The ingredients are commonly available and easily affordable plus the recipes require minimal advanced preparation. Even when Ive shared these meals with people not on a low-carb diet, theyve been well received. I particularly like the breadth of recipes devoted to meat entrees and party food. The throw it all in the slow cooker strategy is virtually fool proof. I would highly recommend this cookbook.

Review of Book The Everyday Low-Carb | | This book is incredible. It combines low carb and crock-pot cooking with delicious, family-friendly recipes. I have been doing low-carb for a year and a half, and it is getting harder and harder to stay low-carb and to feed family and friends in an affordable way. This book has given me some new ideas for low-carb cooking and frees up a lot of time for me. My whole family loves the recipes, so I dont have to cook seperate meals each night. I really love this cookbook.

Review of Book The Everyday Low-Carb | | I am so impressed with this cookbook. The introductory chapters alone make it a great book, and the recipes are fabulous too. I highly recommend this cookbook for anyone looking to simplify their low-carb life. The authors begin with a few concise chapters about slow cookers and their care, low-carb ingredients, and conversion of traditional recipes to slow cooker recipes. One chapter contains contact information on all the big low-carb food manufacturers, which I found very helpful. And the recipes....Wow. Easy, low carb, and yummy. Youve gotta love a scrumptious meal that only requires 5 minutes of prep time, and is ready the minute you get home from work. There are recipe chapters on breakfast and brunch, beef, poultry, seafood, soups, desserts, and more. Approximate nutritional content is given for each recipe. I really like the organization of the book. each recipe is on a separate page, and the directions are easy to interpret (for cooking dunces like me.). Maybe best of all is the fact that each recipe requires only a few ingredients (less than 10 usually), which is encouraging to those of us who arent gourmet chefs. Its about time for us low-carbers to enjoy some easy food preparation. Hooray.

Review of Book The Everyday Low-Carb | | Im new to the low-carb diet so this is my first low-carb cookbook and Im very excited about it. Im extremely busy during the week and cant cook every night so I do my cooking on the weekends. I made 3 recipes from the book just this past weekend. They are very easy and very good. I research cookbooks quite extensively because I live by myself and am on a limited budget so I cant afford to buy that random seasoning or product that Ill never use again so I look for cookbooks that use the basic ingredients and wont break the bank. I spent around USD50 at the grocery store and and made 16 meals. I was a little leary about the items because they seemed to be a little high in fat however the book does not specify what part is saturated fat. I tried using different items than the recipe called for (ex. used turkey bacon instead of regular bacon) and the food still came out quite good. Theres also a section devoted to using left overs and has recipes that do not requie a slow cooker. Some recipes take as little as 4 hours on low so you can start dinner late in the day and still have eat early. Id recommend this cookbook, its inexpensive and I bet youll find many recipes to enjoy.

Review of Book The Everyday Low-Carb | | I have done the low-carb thing off and on over the past 5 years, but started up again about 6 months ago. I was eating a lot more fresh vegetables and meat, but was getting tired of all the cooking. Then I came accross something about slow cookers and how theyre the next best thing for low-carbers. I did some research, and decided to buy one. I also bought this cookbook along with it, based on the reviews here. I work long hours and have a daughter under 2. My husband is just as busy, and neithe us us want to cook when we get home. First of all, for those of you who want a great meal when you get home, but dont want to cook at that time, get a slow cooker. And for those of you who use a slow cooker and dont want potatoes coming out of your ears...get this book. I have to say, its the only cookbook that Ive ever used this much. I think its partially because its for the crockpot, partially because of low-carb. I have had this book for less than a month, and I have made over 20 of the recipes. Some I like better than others, but theyre all good. I now want more slow cooker recipes, but cant get myself to buy any others, because I like to low-carb spin. Like all the other reviewers say, the language in the book is simple, the ingredients are easy to find, and the dishes are tasty. Even my husband hasnt missed the potatoes. He said we havent eaten this gourmet in years. Its great to prepare the ingredients in the am and have it done that night. We serve some of the dishes over low-carb pasta and some with the sides in the book. I always wondered why reviews here were so long...theres just so much to say. Just like everyone else, I would highly recommend this book, even if you are not on a low-carb diet, but want some great new slow cooker recipes. And for low-carbers, its a must have.

Review of Book The Everyday Low-Carb | | But this book really simplifies things because you can prepare everything in the morning (or in some cases the night before.) and throw it in the cooker as you walk out the door. Coming home to those awesome smells is satisfying, especially when youve been overdoing the salad and chicken breast dinners... I just got this book a week ago but have already tried a handful of recipes. The kicked up French Onion soup is spectacular - rivals any restaurants version - even includes a crouton on top and still low carb. Being able to roast flavorful chickens and turkey breast without heating up the house (or having to tend to a grill) will be great in the summertime - and it makes great leftovers for the next days lunch. The helpful introduction tells you all you need to know about slow cooking and each recipe is written with practicality in mind - no scouring the special foods isles at the store - they have really made it easy. After all, isnt that why you want to use a crock pot in the first place My slow cooker is now on my countertop instead of hiding in the back of my cabinet somewhere.

Review of Book The Everyday Low-Carb | | I have been following a low-carb diet for over a year and I am always looking for new ways to do low-carb. This book is outstanding. This book has great recipes with easy to follow directions. Every recipe has nutritional facts so I can stay within my net carb limit. Portion sizes are more than generous. So far, the butter roasted almonds and the rosemary garlic chicken are my favorites, but I am looking forward to trying more recipes this weekend. Slow Cooking my low carb meals has taken the stress out of my meal planning.

Review of Book The Everyday Low-Carb | | This book is terrific. We are a busy family of four and love the recipes in this book. My husband and I had not used our slow cooker since receiving it as a wedding present 9 years ago. Now we use the cooker at least twice a week. It is so much fun to use because I love coming home and have a wonderful meal, practically waiting for us.. The side dish recipes are super, too. Even our three-year-old is crazy about the Warm Asparagus and Red Pepper salad. After every new recipe, I end up calling another friend to recommend the book. I keep ordering more copies.. There is always someone new that I meet, following a low carb diet or wanting to use their slow cooker more. And to all of these folks, I recommend picking up the book. So my advice is to order more than one.. It makes a great gift.

Review of Book The Everyday Low-Carb | | So youre on a low carb diet, looking good and feeling great, but your family is definitely on a high carb diet and getting tired of the plain meat dishes youve been serving up lately. Or maybe you are the one whos tired of them. You would like to be able to expand your low carb recipe list, but you dont have a lot of time to spend on the fancy schmancy rigamarole that some low carb cookbooks require. If only you could have your fine palate and your waistline both satisfied... Say no more my meat-eatin bretheren. The Everyday Low Carb Slow Cooker Cookbook was literally the answer to my prayers some months ago. As a mom of two small boys and wife to a very picky man I was having a hard time keeping everybody happy at the dinner table while I watched my weight. the two-entree meal was becoming the norm and it took way too much time. In my high carb days I had used my blessed time saver, the crock pot, regularly but recently it was gathering dust on the top shelf. Thank the Lord I can put it to work again and regain my time/sanity. Now I have to try a minimum of six recipes before I feel that I can review a cookbook with fairness. The recipes that I have completed from TELCSCC are. Seafood Crustless Quiche (I didnt miss the crust and neither did they - Fabulous.) Orange Pork Sausage and White Bean Soup (my dh literally told me it was the best soup ever, bar none) Chicken with Sun-Dried Tomatoes and Artichokes (rich and hearty, a complete meal) Chicken with 40 Cloves of Garlic (yes, really.) Pesto Beef with Grape Tomatoes and Fresh Mozzarella I think the genius of this cookbook is that the authors recognize that low carb dieters are not only just as busy as everybody else, but also come in a variety of skill levels in the kitchen. Accordingly, there is a special section at the beginning just for the quickneasy crowd that features fewer ingredients and timesavers like canned food and packaged mixes to add to your fresh meats and veggies. Believe it or not, the Pesto Beef recipe was one of these. Not that the more complicated recipes are that much longer or harder, believe me. the authors make it clear that since slow cookery is all about convenience, their mission is to keep it as simple as possible without sacrificing taste. It would appear that their mission was successful. In many cases these recipes are so loaded with veggies and hearty broth that you wont need to make a salad or a side dish and nobody will even notice. There are so many more that I havent gotten to yet, but Im dying to try the desserts next. Peanut Butter Fudge Cake with Peanut Butter Fudge Drizzle, Coconut Custard, and Pumpkin Pudding, which is promised to be like the pie without the crust. Judging by my success with the quiche, the slow cooker is a natural with those eggy custards and puddings (averaging about 3-4 hours on low). I would compare this cookbook to Mable Hoffmans Crockery Cookery (the high-carb bible for slow cookers) in terms of quality andamp. variety of recipes and simplicity of use. My family has had no complaints since Ive started using it, in fact they like TELCSCC dishes better than many of my higher carb dishes. I believe that this is truly the answer for the lifestyles and tastes of a modern health-conscious Americans. -Andrea, aka Merribelle
