This is my opinion, based on years of experience with a reduced carbohydrate diet (these diets DO help some. but others might not be as helped. Always consult your own doctor.).
If one is committed to a lower carbohydrate lifestyle, Carb blocker is a good product to use with buffets, or restaurants, where one cant control all ingredients one consumes (some flour may be in gravy or soup of commercially prepared foods).
Occasionally, Ill use this product to be able to eat sugarless deserts that may not be starch-less, and keep my low-carb diet effective.
I test the effectively of my diet with ketone sticks. Ketones are present if fats are being metabolized, and one is at biologic zero, in terms of carbohydrate consumption...(no more than about 5-15 carbohydrates, maximum, a day, in my case)..
If taken about 2-to-10 minutes, with water, before starches are consumed, in small amounts, liquid-gel Carb Blockers will prevent a loss of my positive ketone readings. So I must conclude that Carb Blockers effectively disables my amylase enzyme (starch breaking) and prevents starches from being digested (as sugar).
With this, if the directions are followed, most starch one eats becomes fiber, instead of digestible carbohydrates. Because effective fiber, and waste, is increased, one may have to accommodate that too, the 12 hrs- to- 3 days after using such products like this.
But this product will not work as a complete substitute for following the low-carbohydrate diet. One must almost completely abstain from sugar, too, for such a diet to remain effective.

I heartily endorse the low-carbohydrate dieting and lifestyle. I have kept my weight off over 2 years, now, this way. I lost about 100 pounds, originally. I used the methods outlined in Dr. Atkins book. Dr.AtkinsNewDietRevolution.
In my case, insulin resistance and blood sugar fluctuation, greatly contributed to my weight problem. Controlling this, and thus cravings for sugar and starches (if I follow abstinence from those (2 weeks), Ill eventually not crave those carbohydrates) better controls my tendency to overeat.
Note. one can loose lots of weight, almost painlessly, on the low carbohydrate eating plans. But, only adequate exercise, during and after that weight-loss, makes the weight loss stick or remain. After one changes ones eating habits to loose this way, one has to still consume much fewer carbohydrates (compared to ones lifestyle before this weight change), and exercise, for that weight to stay off.
For comfort, Id also recommend one consume adequate fiber, (not including the starches this makes into fiber), on low carbohydrate diets. As Dr. Atkins used to say Eat more vegetables than a vegetarian...
I agree. One problem with eating starches, as fiber, instead of more effective fiber, is that the better fibers might be ignored, because one can only eat so much. So, if you take this, for your comfort, dont skip the salad(s).
