Buechel, himself a diabetic for 19 years, is participating in the program, learning how to better manage his condition with diet, exercise and lifestyle changes.

Januvia (sitagliptin) received FDA approval in as a prescription medicine for use as part of a treatment programme (including diet and exercise) to lower blood sugar in patients with type 2 diabetes.
